We currently have a strong relationship with The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh and the Child Life Department within Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. The Luke Hadley Foundation is enriching the lives of the children cared for by these organizations by providing them with toys, activities, equipment, programs, and field trips.

Cervis received a call late on Tuesday the week before the World of Concrete trade show for Sidewalk Grading Systems. Sidewalk Grading Systems manufactures an attachment to backhoes used to simplify the grading of earth along sidewalks during construction. The problem was that the attachment is often detached from the machine and running wiring from the in CAB switches and joystick were commonly compromised by being in the open environment. The problem was solved quickly by using Cervis’ SmaRT wireless base units. One wireless device was mounted in the CAB of the machine and monitored switch inputs to be transmitted wirelessly to the other wireless base unit mounted on the attachment. The attachment base unit received power from batteries and provided outputs pursuant to the switch inputs in the CAN to drive the attachment valves coils. “We were able to listen to the customers requirements and problems and apply our flexible SmaRT wireless base units as wireless contact monitors to drive valves on the attachment. The most impressive thing to the customer was our simple, quick response to get him a solution in only three days for delivery to the World of Concrete trade show so he could improve the exhibition of his machine. ” says Kevin Hadley of Cervis. With such a successful initial installation the customer has already begun discussion of increasing the requirements to include transmission of sensor inputs to continue the wireless concept that has pushed this machine to the forfront of wireless machine technology.

Cervis Highlights New CAN Bus Switch Panel at WOC 09

At the 2009 World of Concrete show in Las Vegas Cervis displays it’s latest development, the CAN Switch Station. This development is meant to help OEMs of mobile equipment using standard toggle switch stations on their machines to eliminate bulky wiring and reduce input requirements on CAN controllers resulting in more flexibility, reduced installation costs and simplify trouble shooting. The concept was derived to service one of Cervis’ OEM customers that was using two 18 toggle switch stations at the right and left rear of their truck. The stations also included one potentiometer and an E-Stop switch. The length of wire run from each station was approximately 35′. The total number of wires from each station was about 48 wires thus eliminating over 1600′ of vehicle wiring and associated terminations. By taking the switch station and making it a CAN node the wiring requirements are reduced significantly and make the system significantly more reliable. Each station interfaces to a Cervis supplied TTcontrol TTC 200 ECU which as well manages commands from the Cervis supplied Ikusi TM70 series wireless control. The complete package has lowered the OEMs installation costs and added significant diagnostic improvements for operators. Cervis has development plans to modularize this product for standard applications offering 3 and 6 toggle switch pack stations with standard CAN EDS. ”We believe this product (the CSS) is widely applicable to machines in the mobile equipment sector, will lower costs and simplify machine assemble as well as improve reliability. As OEMs continually move toward CAN based machine architectures the need for compatible devices is growing quickly. The CSS allows manufactures to move to CAN technology while preserving the traditional, reliable look and feel of the toggle switch.” says Kevin Hadley National Sales Manager of Cervis.
